Pope Francis appoints Tucson Bishop Weisenburger as new Archbishop of Detroit
To All Members of NACPA and NACPA Friends and Supporters,

With great joy I am pleased to announce that Bishop Edward J. Weisenburger, our Episcopal Moderator, has been named the sixth Archbishop of Detroit by Pope Francis.
Without doubt Bishop Weisenburger’s leadership will bring the Church in Detroit a wealth of blessings.
In a press briefing yesterday, Archbishop Allen Vigneron, who will be departing the Archdiocese after 16 years of service, praised Bishop Weisenburger for his outstanding leadership as Bishop of the Diocese of Tucson, noting in particular that he “commends him for being a devoted priest” as well as for his “apostolic courage.”
Bishop Weisenburger became Episcopal Moderator of NACPA in 2021. He is the recipient of the NACPA 2025 Leadership Award in recognition of his great support for the association’s mission to promote justice in the workplace.
Please join me in sending prayers and best wishes to the Bishop during this exciting time. I am grateful to have him as a friend and supporter of NACPA.
