Our Prayers and Support for Los Angeles

A message regarding the California fires

Dear NACPA Members, Friends and Supporters:

As the devastating wildfires continue to rage in the greater Los Angeles area, we send our deepest condolences to all those impacted by this tragedy.

Our prayers go out to the families whose loved ones have died, to those who have lost their homes and livelihoods and to the more than 180,000 people who have been evacuated.

We pray also for the first responders whose courage, resilience and selflessness have saved countless lives.

The Archdiocese of Los Angeles website (as well as their Instagram @lacatholics) includes a message of solidarity and hope from Archbishop Jose Gomez (Instagram @archbishopgomez) and information on Masses and prayers that are underway to provide support and solace during this difficult time.

In addition, Bishop Edward Weisenburger, NACPA’s episcopal moderator and Bishop Lawrence Sullivan, association board member, will be offering Masses for all those suffering from the fires and their overwhelming aftermath.

Finally, please take a moment to join us in praying this hopeful invocation “In Our Hearts.”  May God bless us all — and may our beloved Blessed Mother provide protection and consolation to all who live and work in this beautiful City of the Angels.

In Our Hearts

Compassionate Lord, we pray for those who have been devastated by recent natural disasters.

We remember those who have lost their lives so suddenly.

We hold in our hearts the families forever changed by grief and loss.

Bring them consolation and comfort. Surround them with our prayer for strength.

Bless those who have survived and heal their memories of trauma and devastation.

May they have the courage to face the long road of rebuilding ahead.

We ask your blessing on all those who have lost their homes, their livelihoods, their security and their hope.

Bless the work of relief agencies and those proving emergency assistance.

May their work be guided by the grace and strength that comes from You alone.

Help us to respond with generosity in prayer, in assistance, in aid to the best of our abilities.

Keep our hearts focused on the needs of those affected, even after the crisis is over.

We ask this in Jesus' name.
