Sr. Ellen Doyle, OSU, NACPA Executive Director 1998-2004

July 22, 2025

Dear NACPA Members, Friends and Supporters,

Sr. Ellen Doyle 1949-2025An often-noted phrase in Catholic circles is that “we stand on the shoulders of giants.” That is certainly true when reflecting on the good and generous life of Sister Ellen Doyle, OSU, who passed away on Friday, July 18, 2025.

Sister Ellen, a member of the Order of St. Ursula (Ursulines), served as executive director of NACPA from 1998 - 2005. Father Edward Pratt, who was a member of the association staff with Sister Ellen and later served as board president, recalled Sister’s great dedication to the NACPA mission and her exemplary energy and organizational skills, honed no doubt from childhood days when she helped her parents raise her seven siblings.

Prior to NACPA, Sister Ellen served Catholic education as a teacher, superintendent and president of Chatfield College. Following NACPA, she worked with the Catholic Leadership Institute (CLI) as a consultant as well as a national and international consultant for religious orders.

Plans for Sister Ellen’s Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Monday, July 28 at 10:30 AM at St. Columban Catholic Church, Loveland, OH.  The recording will be  available afterwards at the parish website www.stcolumban.org.

The burial will take place in the Ursulines of Brown County Cemetery in St. Martin, OH at 2:00 pm, the same day.

Please join me in remembering Sister, the Ursuline community and family in your prayers.

Sincerely,
Regina Haney
