Harassment Training

You have two good reasons to provide training on harassment prevention and mitigation.

First, if an associate files an harassment claim, his or her supervisor can be held personally liable for allowing the behavior to continue, whether or not the supervisor knew the behavior was taking place. Training shows your management team how to protect themselves by creating a respectful working environment and quickly responding to harassment complaints.

And second, an organization embroiled in an harassment suit will find the courts look more kindly on a firm that has developed an anti-harassment policy, vigorously communicated it, and conducted harassment prevention training for all employee levels. Anti-harassment training makes good legal sense.

It’s the right thing and the smart thing to do.
