Who is eligible for membership in NACPA?

Membership in the association is open to all persons who have responsibility in the areas of church personnel administration or related fields or support services.

Who are "typical" NACPA members?

Members in the association are mostly Roman Catholic but include persons of other faith traditions. NACPA members serve the church in a variety settings and ministries, some of which are: Parishes: Pastors, Business Administrators; Dioceses: Human Resource Directors, Education Ministers, Clergy Personnel, Priest Personnel Board Members; Vicars for Clergy/Religious, Benefits Coordinators, Financial Managers; Religious Congregations: Superiors, Leadership Team Members, Human Resource Directors, Ministry Coordinators, Formation Directors, Treasurers, Finance Directors, Mission Effectiveness Directors; National Associations: Executive Directors, Staff Development Professionals.

Does NACPA exclusively serve Catholic organizations?

While NACPA's current membership is over 95% Catholic, we have members from other faith traditions. We encourage ecumenical partnerships with others supporting justice in all church workplaces. Through our publications, workshops and consultations that are based on Christian values and sound human resource practices, we serve all who minister to church personnel.

What is NAPCA's relationship to the Roman Catholic Church?

According to The Official Catholic Directory (P.J. Kenedy & Sons, Publishers), NACPA is recognized as a National Organization associated with the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.

If I leave my current organization, what happens to my membership?

Your membership is transferable. If you leave your position, your membership can be taken by the person who takes your position. Or if you paid for this membership yourself, you are able to take your membership to your next position.

How do I find out more about NACPA services and resources?

This web site contains information on NACPA services and publications. You can request a Resource Catalog and/or additional information on consulting , surveys, workshops and other customized services by emailing us at nacpa@nacpa.org or call the National Office at (513) 421-3134.

How do I order publications?

You can order NACPA materials in three ways:

• You can order them right online, pay for them by credit card, and they will be shipped directly to you.

• You can print a copy of the order form and submit it with your check (US Funds) or credit card information to our office via postal service or FAX.

• NACPA members may contact our office at (513) 421-3134 and orders will be shipped with an invoice.

Will I receive any regular communications from NACPA?

Newsnotes , our bi-monthly newsletter, will be emailed to you to update you on important job and industry information that you need to know to help you more effectively handle your job responsibilities. Examples of useful information in recent Newsnotes are: Guidelines for Conducting Effective Reference Checks, Legislative Updates, and Annual Regional Pay Adjustment Projections.

Church Personnel Issues , a white paper focusing on issues related to Church Personnel, is published 3-4 times a year and is a benefit of membership.

From time to time, NACPA will also contact you with updates on important matters in your field or to make you aware of an opportunity that may be able to help you in your work.

NACPA has staff with various kinds of expertise that are available to help you. Just call the NACPA office and explain your need and the NACPA staff will match you with someone who can help you.

I'm new to Church administration and a new NACPA member. I am trying to use my business experience in my new job but finding it a challenge in the church culture. Is NACPA a resource to help with this?

NACPA has many resources for integrating Gospel values and best business practice in the Church workplace. Just contact the NACPA office and we will give you support, encouragement and practical resources.

I cannot attend the annual Convocation. Can I get CDs or tapes of the talks?

NACPA arranges for video and audio recording of many of the talks at the Convocation. Some members have even found them useful for staff development sessions for their colleagues after the Convocation. Contact the NACPA office at (513) 421-3134 for more details.

I want to meet colleagues with similar responsibilities. How can I find them?

Join a NACPA Member List serve to engage with your HR professional colleagues across the US and around the world! These lists are open to any individuals who are NACPA members and allow for a rich exchange of ideas and information sharing on important topics.

We are providing these list-serves to share experiences, strategies, and information in order to increase communication among our members. Each list-serve is closed and moderated. It is also hosted on NACPA’s own server which has the latest security available.
