6th Grade Homeroom Teacher Queen of Apostles School in San Jose

Work Commitment: Full-Time

Position Summary

• General Skills: demonstrate the knowledge, skills and experience necessary to complete the tasks required of a homeroom teacher:  o Communicate with students, parents, teachers, and principal   o Work collaboratively with the other members of the junior high team  o Create and teach lessons for 6th, 7th and 8th grade social studies, and 6th and 7th grade Literature that meet the needs of all learners  o Lead the class in prayer and integrate the Catholic faith and Schoolwide Learning Expectations into a classroom environment   o Correct all student work and provide feedback to students and parents  o Complete school supervision before and after school and during recess  o Manage a classroom positively in conjunction with the school’s mission o The 6th grade homeroom teacher must lead one week at outdoor school.

Language Skills:

Must be proficient in both written and spoken English to communicate with students, parents, and staff members.

Working Conditions: The job requires the 6th grade homeroom teacher to be on campus for the entirety of the school day for all scheduled school days and in-service day.  The teacher must understand and model the school’s philosophy towards a Catholic education.

Working Experience: The applicant should have some experience of working with middle school children. • Equipment: Must be able to use a laptop, iPad and work a classroom projector.

Other Requirements: • Fingerprint clearance • Current TB Test • Bachelor’s Degree
